Your ‘Local’ Shop

Sometimes the best bike shop is the one right around the corner where you’re greeted with an espresso while you grab a bottle of chain lube, replace your brake pads, and compare tires, or maybe it’s the small dealer who stocks a handful of made-to-order custom frames. Other times it’s worth spending hours in the car to seek out that dealer who has the exact bike you want in your size, and favorite color. Occasionally, the best of both worlds collide and whether they’re down the street or across the state they become your ‘local’ shop regardless of where you call home. At ENVE, we’ve selected retailers that represent the core values of our brand when it comes to quality, selection, service, and expertise. We work side by side to provide customers with the best possible retail experience.

The Right Fit

Just as with our products, we start with the highest goals when it comes to retail, which means partnering with the right dealer that can help create the best ENVE consumer experience and user experience. These ERC designated shops not only offer a wide selection of ENVE products, but they need to have an established system on how to properly fit somebody on a bike, they’ve got to have a well-respected service department.

“It’s a symbiotic relationship for both ENVE and the shop”, says National Sales Manager Mike Kowalski. “We’re here to support those dealers that are supporting us.” ENVE works closely with each shop to keep their inventory fresh and make sure they have a priority allocation of products so that when a customer walks into an ERC they’ll almost certainly find what they’re looking for, displayed in a manner that’s easy to see, touch, or compare. Part of the selection process to become an ENVE Ride Center is not only the shop’s capacity to stock a wide range of products but ENVE’s ability to fulfill those orders so these select shops always have the latest product on hand.

A Well Oiled Supply Chain

An important part of the retail experience is the ability to find and purchase a product on the floor. After all, if you’re stopping by an ERC to get fit for a new ENVE Custom Road frame you should be able to physically feel the handlebar shape in your hands, be walked through the range of wheels to know what’s right for you, and determine the tire size best for the terrain and surfaces you’re riding. Each ENVE Ride Center is stocked with a full range of products that pair specifically with their location and builds. For example, an ENVE Ride Center in Texas would feature a variety of road, gravel, or cross country mountain bike components like SES road wheels and handlebars, while one located beside the trails in the mountains would be more likely to feature products from the M7 or AM30 line of wheels. “We sit down with the dealers and we say alright, let’s talk about your customer, let’s talk about the right products, let’s talk about your busiest time of the year” explains Points, “even in the offseason, these stores are your best bet to have some of the products you would want.” In addition to working closely with dealers, ENVE has even partnered with a local Ogden-based carpenter who handcrafts each ERC display to fit seamlessly into each unique retail environment while maintaining a cohesive look and feel whether you’re shopping for an AR Handlebar in Arkansas or a Disc Brake Fork in Denver.

Searching for Authenticity

ENVE identifies and evaluates Ride Centers based on their reputation among local riders and their role in the local cycling community in order to provide its customers with resources that are equally qualified to dispense route advice as they are to bleed your fork, or determine your ideal handlebar width and stem length. To be clear, Ride Centers aren’t concept stores dedicated specifically to ENVE or one brand. It’s important that each shop has its own character and identity. One ERC near Chicago used to be a speakeasy and focuses on rider-specific and custom builds, while a shop in the Bay Area drives a regional cycling culture, as does another with locations in Austin and Bentonville that played host to ENVE’s UCI CX Worlds group rides and events in 2022. A number of the Ride Centers stock a large inventory of products and not only have a strong regional presence but also offer their inventory online for those who may not have easy access to an ERC. Each ENVE Ride Center is unique in both the products they carry, the customers they support, and the local cycling culture that’s represented.
