Growing Up with the Santa Cruz Syndicate
This weekend will mark the launch of the much anticipated 2017 UCI World Cup Downhill season and the beginning of ENVE’s 7th season as the official wheel and component supplier for the Santa Cruz Syndicate team.
Over that past 7 years the partnership between Santa Cruz Bicycles and ENVE as resulted in:
- The first carbon downhill wheel to podium in a World Cup
- The first full carbon downhill bike to win a world cup, ENVE developed and manufactured the first full carbon rear triangles for the V10.
- The first carbon downhill wheel to win not one, but two world championships (2012 & 2013) as well as an impressive runner-up in 2015 when Josh “Ratboy” Bryceland sent it to flat in Norway breaking his ankle and still taking 2nd. As a minor consolation, Ratboy still took home the series overall.
2017 will mark another first for the Santa Cruz Syndicate and ENVE machine. When the gate drops in Lourdes this weekend Greg Minnaar, and Syndicate newcomers Luca Shaw and Loris Vergier will drop into the course rolling on 29” ENVE M90 wheelsets.
